Glenpool, a southern suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma, continues to grow. In fact, Glenpool was the fastest growing city in the state of Oklahoma in 2016 according to the U.S. Census. The five-mile area centered on the heart of Glenpool grew 55% between 2000 and 2010 and is projected to grow another 10% by 2022.
Total population in the 5-mile area was 37,630 people in 2017. Growth in the larger trade area served by Glenpool is similar, with an 31% increase in population since 2000 to 55,826 residents, and an additional 7% growth projected by 2022.
Growth factors include a 199,000-square-foot Super Walmart anchoring a large mixed-use development that features retail, medical, financial, office, restaurant, and multi-family users; the Glenpool Conference Center bringing 38,000 plus visitors annually to Glenpool; a 90-room Holiday Inn Express, and a new 49,000-square-foot MedPlex and freestanding ER. The City of Glenpool owns 37 acres along Highway 75 and is aggressively seeking the right development partner for additional retail and commercial development.
Construction on a new elementary school in Glenpool was completed in 2019, and the city recently completed a new multi-field tournament quality soccer complex as well.
